MLK Day & History Of Telephones
Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a nationally observed holiday but this year is significantly special because tomorrow, Barack Obama would be sworn in as the first African American president. A long way as come since the day of the “I Have A Dream” speech. PanatelDirect will be giving the Obama’s a free telephone system!

But the telephone has a longer, more “technical” history than MLK. The telephone was invented by Alexander Gram Bell in the 1870’s. In the early days, it was a huge device where the microphone and the speaker were on two different pieces. Then came the human operating switch stations when phones started to become mainstream communication. When one picked up the phone, an operator would answer instead of hearing a dial tone and we are so use to today. You would ask the operator to connect you to your party, then the operator would manually connect your call. Then came later on, computer switches which essentially are what we are using today. The modern switch facility are called Central Offices (CO’s) and there is likely one if your neighborhood. They are responsible for routing your calls and supplying ADSL broadband internet.

Now, we are in the 21st century where you can be your own CO and control almost every aspect of your telephone, today we call that a Phone System. Many manufactueres have developed their own phone system but Panasonic by far has been the leader in Phone Systems. You can control your caller id, voicemails, extentions, etc. A phone system can help grow a business of any size from small to enterprise, or make your home a more secure place with the use of door phones and security cameras. All that and more can be done with Panasonic Phone Systems.
With the growth of bandwidth and acess to broadband, you can even have your Panasonic Phone System work over the internet using VoIP. That means you can pick up your phone and intercomm across the sea to anywhere in the world free of charge. The Panasonic KX-TDA50 and higher models are more than capable of doing that. The Panasonic KX-TA824 is the most popular phone system for homes and small busienss which offers robust features that you will love and enjoy. Best of all, these Panasonic Phone Systems are so future proof, you won’t to worry about upgrades for at least a decade if not more!
